Robert Greene on artificial intelligence
Integrating AI in my workflow
Is it just me or do you long for a time when AI only referred to Allen Iverson?
Now that AI is everywhere and since it has become a handy tool for web developers, one of the things that I struggle with is how to integrate it into my workflow. Yes, I do believe there will come a time very soon when my role is obsolete but we are currently living at a moment when we need to learn how to use it in a way that it makes it look like we can still pass off our work as original and our own.
On a recent Daily Stoic podcast, the host Ryan Holiday asked his mentor, author Robert Greene, his thoughts on artificial intelligence. I made some notes for myself to better understand my thought process when AI is a simple and quick solution to the any problem in front of me. I may have paraphrased but the breakdown of what he said is as follows…
Robert Greene: “Whenever you face a problem that you don’t quite understand, you have to think deeply, you have to use the anxiety of not figuring it out. You have to dig into the problem deeper than generating a quick solution.”
10 hours of thinking vs. 2 seconds of instant results
“One must go through the process of frustration and say to themself:
– I can’t get it.
– I’m not good enough.
– Something’s wrong with me.
… These questions develop character, patience, discipline, self-esteem, and humility.”
Versus “Total annihilation of the thinking process.”
Interesting times.
