Monterella Shopify site

Client Monterella Boutique & Spa Made with Shopify, HTML, CSS, Adobe XD, Instagram

When Monterella Boutique & Spa in Oakville approached me to revamp their online presence, I knew it was an opportunity to make a significant impact. Initially, I was tasked with converting and redesigning their existing WordPress website into an online store using the Shopify platform. This transition was crucial, especially during the pandemic, allowing Monterella to continue serving their clients by selling skincare products online and staying in business.

The project didn’t stop at the website. To enhance their online engagement, I created various promotional graphics for specials and ongoing service offers, which were then promoted on their social media platforms. These efforts helped drive traffic and maintain customer interest during challenging times.

Understanding the importance of consistent social media activity, I began creating regular posts for Monterella, aiming for three per week. In the beginning, we were short on original content, so I used stock photos and videos to craft compelling narratives around their products and services. This strategy ensured that their social media channels remained vibrant and engaging.

As we progressed, I started filming demos of the aestheticians performing facial treatments. These authentic, behind-the-scenes videos provided valuable content that resonated with Monterella’s audience. Posting these demos on Instagram not only showcased the spa’s expertise but also built a stronger connection with their followers.

Working with Monterella Boutique & Spa has been a productive experience, demonstrating the power of effective web design and strategic social media management in navigating and thriving through challenging times.

I was managing the social media accounts for Monterella (@monterellaboutiqueandspa) from about May 2022 to August 2023.

Apart from highlighting the spa and the treatments offered, in an effort to inject some lighthearted humour and perhaps get a few more eyes looking at what’s on offer, I often found myself taking a different approach to marketing. Here are a few samples where I leveraged old comic strips to get our message across.

These would often appear in addition to the regular posts vis Instagram and Facebook stories. As I look back on them today, I can’t help but chuckle — content creation, no less.
